Level2, Level3 Services

Level 2 and Level 3 Switches are the functional and procedural means of transferring from a source to a destination. The difference between them is obvious. A Level 2 switch functions as an ethernet bridge while a Level 3 switch functions as an IP network router.

Small networks can be built using just Level 2 devices, but most corporate networks will have a mix of Level 2 and Level 3 switches.
